Research Interests:

My research concerns the development of physical models for biological macromolecules and an self-assembled structures. The current focus of my funded research is on the controlled assembly of large viral shells using numerical simulation, statistical mechanics, and elasticity theory. Separately, I collaborate with Shimon Weiss (CNSI) on the development of a theory for single-cell initiation of cancers by light activation and with David Nelson (Harvard) on the theory of nucleation and growth of cancers. With Alex Levine, I am developing theories of neuronal networks controlling the breathing rhytm.
